A Fianna Fáil Senator says people leaving comments on websites should be regulated.

Ned O'Sullivan wants to make people register with a central agency, before they can post comments on news websites.

Senator O'Sullivan recently made headlines for a campaign to crackdown on 'raucous' seagulls.

He says politicians and other people in the public eye are given too much abuse online by people who will not give their own names.

And Senator O'Sullivan says those comments would not be printed anywhere else.
