100 new jobs have been announced for Galway. Hewlett Packard is investing in cloud services at its new state of the art facility in Ballybrit.
It is currently under construction and due to be finished next year. The new jobs will be high-tech research and development positions.
The positions, which will range in scope and expertise level, are supported by the government through IDA Ireland.
The new positions will assist HP enterprise customers with cloud planning, implementation and operations.
The company says those recruited for these roles also will also contribute to designing blueprints, new code, bug fixes and code reviews.
The announcement was made as part of a visit by Taoiseach Enda Kenny to HP's global headquarters in Palo Alto, California.
"HP has consistently invested in and believed in Ireland over the past forty years. Today, the company is one of Ireland’s most valued investors and one of our foremost creators of highly skilled R&D jobs" he said.
While the CEO of IDA Ireland, Barry O'Leary, added "“HP has been one of the largest and most significant investors in Ireland Inc, for the past 40 years. Today’s announcement is another vote of confidence in Ireland’s ability to both provide and attract a strong technical workforce".
This announcement also comes on the back of recent investments by HP in Belfast, where the company located its Global Centre of Software Engineering Excellence in 2012.
