104 new jobs are being created through the opening of a new Tesco store in Cork.
The store in Ballincollig will employ 125 people in total, with 39 coming from the live register.
Tesco is one of the biggest employers in Ireland, with nearly 15,000 staff nationwide and more than 1,100 in Co Cork.
The supermarket giant has been struggling to hold onto its number one position in the marketplace and is only marginally ahead of its nearest rival, SuperValu.
Alan Coughlan, Tesco Ballincollig store manager, said: "Our new store offers the best of fresh and local food to customers, with the community at the heart of the shopping experience...We're also delighted to be able to channel our surplus food to the local Ballincollig initiatives that need it most using the innovative foodcloud app technology, which we are also rolling out across all of our stores in Ireland."
The new store measures 32,000 square feet of net retail space and has over 300 covered car parking spaces.
