The number of new cars licensed last month increased by 12.1% compared to the same month last year. Some 1,465 new cars were licensed in November.

While the number of used cars licensed for the first time were down 6.9% to 4,177 for the same period.

Renault was the most popular make registered last month - followed by Volkswagen, Dacia and Opel.

Across the year, Volkswagon was the most popular make with 11,106 new cars licensed.

In total, there were 91,380 new private cars licensed in the year to the end of November.

This is a rise of 29.2% compared to the same period in 2013.

And the number of new good vehicles licensed in November was 1,009 - up 36.5% from November of last year.
