As many as 150 new jobs are to created in Cork. Technology company VCE plans to create the new research and development (R&D) positions at its international headquarters.
Recruitment is already underway for a number of positions.
The new roles will expand VCE operations in Ireland, which include professional and customer services, manufacturing, sales operations and general support functions.
The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs through IDA Ireland. The firm expects to employ more than 250 people in Cork by 2015.
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton made the announcement
The Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton met senior executives from VCE on a number of occasions on recent IDA investment missions to the United States.
Making the announcement, he said "Today's announcement that they are making significant investments and creating 150 jobs is great news for Cork and for Ireland. I wish them every success and look forward to working with them on future projects".
The investments made are to help VCE sustain its growth in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) regions.
VCE established its international headquarters in Cork four years ago.
Speaking to Cork's RedFM, Engineering Manager for VCE in Cork - Fintan Ronan - says the expansion plan is good news for Cork and for Ireland on a national level.
