Up to 40 new hi-tech jobs are on their way to Dublin. Digital services company Demand Media is setting up an international office here in the city centre.
It is looking for new staff with experience in product engineering, sales & marketing, IT, finance, operations and customer support.
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton has welcomed the news 'as part of the government's plans for jobs and growth'. The IDA says the presence of the company in Dublin fits well with the 'growing reputation' of the city as as a 'silicon hub'.
"Today's announcement that this leading US company is opening its largest international office in Dublin is a further boost for the sector" he said. "Through continued implementation of the Action Plan for Jobs I am determined to build on this and support the jobs growth we need" he added.
'Creative & high-energy professionals'
The firm already has offices in Toronto, Buenos Aires and London. It says the Dublin office will serve as the international headquarters for the company’s domain services business.
Dave Panos is executive vice president of emerging markets for Demand Media
"We are excited to expand our business into the thriving tech scene of Dublin" he said.
"At such an exhilarating time in the domain services industry with the upcoming launch of new Top Level Domains, we are eager to recruit creative and high-energy professionals who are up to the challenge of taking the lead in the changing Internet landscape" he added.
Demand Media is headquartered in Santa Monica, California.
