Photo-sharing platform Instagram recently announced their intentions to use an algorithmic method, following in the footsteps of Facebook. This means posts will appear based on the user’s interests rather than chronologically.

This move has caused panicked celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Cindy Crawford to request their followers turn on their notifications settings. By doing so, followers would receive an alert each time their favourite celebrity posts on the site.

Instagram has said, however, there is no reason to panic.

The shift will bring the app in line with the way news feeds are ordered on Facebook, which is owned by the same company.
