100 jobs are to be created at web-based company Squarespace in Dublin which is to establish its European Headquarters here.
The company is a website publishing platform based in New York that allows users to create professional blogs, web pages, stores and galleries.
The Dublin office will serve customers around the globe and will include a variety of customer care roles. Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Jobs Minister Richard Bruton made the announcement this morning.
The initiative is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise, and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
Making the announcement, the Taoiseach said, "The decision by Squarespace to base its headquarters in Dublin is a signal of Ireland's growing reputation as the Internet capital of Europe. This means great opportunities for our bright, highly-skilled workforce, and the Government is working to attract further investment through our Action Plan for Jobs".
While Anthony Casalena, Founder and CEO of Squarespace, added "We chose Dublin as our first location outside of New York City over many others in Europe. Dublin offers us a friendly, young, and talented workforce in a vibrant centre city location. It's the perfect choice for Squarespace".
Launched in 2004, the company website says it currently employs 118 people and has launched 1.8 million websites.
Newstalk's Political Correspondent Páraic Gallagher asked the Taoiseach if he would have a blog on Squarespace.
