Next Tuesday is International Women’s Day and will see a whole host of events taking place around world. One event worth checking out is “Women in Games” which is being hosted at Dogpatch Labs at the IFSC in Dublin, between 6.30pm and 9pm.
Women involved in the gaming industry as professionals, entrepreneurs, makers and gamers will be on hand to show off what they do for a living or hobby. Organisers opted to host this event on International Women’s Day as it provides the opportunity to celebrate the creativity of women working in the games industry in Ireland.
On the evening there will be six short ten minute talks from women working in design, audio, writing, programming, network operations and quality assurance in the games industry. Speakers will range from people employed in multinationals, to company founders and freelancers.
The event is organised by Vicky Twomey-Lee of Coding Grace and Gamecraft, and Dr. Aphra Kerr from Maynooth University and GameDevelopers.ie. Vicky and Aphra are currently working together to promote discussions of diversity in the games industry in Ireland.
