There have been 542 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in the Republic, according to the Department of Health.
There have been two further deaths associated with the virus in the past 24 hours.
The latest figures bring the total amount of cases here to 65,394, while the number of coronavirus-related deaths stands at 1,947.
The numbers are reflective of the denotification of three confirmed cases of the virus.
Of the latest cases, 64% are under 45 years of age, while the median age is 35 years old.
Regarding the nationwide distribution of cases, 181 are in Dublin, 59 in Donegal, 50 in Limerick, 36 in Cork, 25 in Kildare, and the remaining 191 cases are spread across 20 other counties.
277 are men and 264 are women.
As of 2pm today, 283 people are now receiving treatment in hospital for the virus after 13 new admissions in the past 24 hours.
Of those patients, 39 are in ICU.
The 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 of the population now stands at 175.5, compared to 185.6 yesterday.
Earlier, a Cork GP warned that we need to "think carefully" as a society about how we approach Christmas this year.
Dr Nuala O'Connor, the Irish College of General Practitioners' lead advisor on COVID-19, said the focus needs to be on how we can have a safe Christmas during the pandemic.
Meanwhile, 420 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Northern Ireland in the last 24 hours.
There have also been seven additional deaths reported by the Department of Health there.
There are now 396 people with the virus in hospital in the North and 55 patients in ICU.
