There have been no further deaths from COVID-19 in Ireland, the Department of Health confirmed today.
The number of coronavirus-related deaths here stands at 1,753.
10 further cases have also been reported today, bringing the total amount of cases here to 25,760.
The Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn said: “All it would take for COVID-19 to regain a foothold in our communities is complacency.
"As the pandemic accelerates around the world, we must remain vigilant here in Ireland.
"Every day, in our individual actions, we have the power to limit the spread of this virus.
"Our priority going forward has to be the reopening of schools and resumption of non-COVID-19 healthcare services – and every time we stay two metres apart, wash our hands, practice good respiratory etiquette and wear a face covering, we are working towards those shared goals together.”
Meanwhile, the government is due to publish its 'green list' of countries deemed safe to travel to tomorrow.
However, two leading experts have both voiced their concern about the list.
Dr Cillian De Gascun told Newstalk's On The Record with Gavan Reilly that publication of a 'green list' could lead to confusion and give people "mixed messages".
He conceded that there would be confusion for people who could be given "mixed messages" if the public health advice is to not travel overseas this summer while at the same time, the government is publishing a 'green list'.
Earlier, speaking on Newstalk Breakfast, Professor Sam McConkey also urged the government not to "repeat the mistakes" of February and March when guidelines on the easing of travel restrictions are published.
