Irish retail giant Penneys says it is looking at extending its opening hours when stores re-open on December 1st.
Its shops are currently shut in line with level five coronavirus restrictions.
However it is hoped these would be lifted by next month.
It was reported earlier this week that Penneys bosses hope to open some of their stores for 24 hours next month.
In a statement, the company said: "In line with Government guidance, we have closed our stores in Republic of Ireland until 1st December.
"We would welcome any extension of opening hours for our stores when we re-open in December as it will allow us to cater for the higher anticipated customer demand and help to reduce customer queues by spreading potential shopping hours over a longer period of time."
It added: "We have extensive safety measures in place in our stores to help protect our employees and customers, including a strict social distancing protocol, limits on the number of customers allowed in store, Perspex screens at tills to protect employees and customers, mandating the use of face masks in-store and increased in-store cleaning."
Penneys originally announced the closure of its Irish stores temporarily back in March.
Later that month it announced that it was halting plans for a new store at the Dundrum Town Centre in Dublin.
The retailer had planned to take over part of the units left vacant following the closure of Ireland's only House of Fraser outlet.
But a Penneys spokesperson said at the time: "In light of the current situation, all expenditure is being reviewed and these negotiations are on hold.
"Our current priority is to support our people and the business through this pandemic and we look forward to resuming business as usual as soon as possible once our stores re-open."
Penneys, which trades as Primark outside Ireland, operates in over 370 stores across 12 countries in Europe and America.
