Documentary on Newstalk's 'Never Ignored: Ollie's Reds' has been selected as a finalist in the Sports & Recreation category at the prestigious 2015 New York Festivals International Radio Program Awards.
Eoin Brennan's production tells the remarkable story of former Shelboure FC owner Ollie Byrne. The documentary brings the listener from Byrne's early days running nightclubs and managing bands on the Dublin rock scene of the 70s, to leading his beloved Shelbourne to the brink of Champions League qualification in 2004 before a dramatic collapse of the club just two years later.
The New York Festivals honour "the world's best radio programmes", with entrants from 30 countries this year, and the awards ceremony will be held in New York City on June 22.
