As part of our Summer Season of Documentary on Newstalk, PPI-nominated producer Brian Gallagher brings us on a journey inside the world of Irish cinema, in Living The Dream.
How did the Hollywood Dream affect the lives of Irish people working as cinema ushers, actors, screenwriters, special effects experts, directors, ice-cream sellers, advertising executives?
From Herbie Donnelly, who spent 52 years as an usher, to Tara O’Sullivan, location caterer on The Vikings, from film critic Mark O’Regan, to renowned cinematographer Seamus Deasy, Living The Dream tells their stories, along with anecdotes from ordinary movie-goers, in a fascinating look at cinema in Ireland.
Living The Dream was written and produced by Brian Gallagher, sound engineering and editing by Orla Rogers and Brian Gallagher.
The programme was made with the support of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland’s Sound and Vision Fund.
