On St. Patrick’s Day on Newstalk, as part of our Spring Season of Dramas on Newstalk, we broadcast the comedy drama ‘Your Allotted Time’ at 10am.

In this fast-paced comedy/drama, PPI nominated writer and producer Brian Gallagher explores a post Celtic Tiger Ireland where people are turning to self-sufficiency. The local allotment is a haven for some, but a social battleground for others.

Your Allotted Time follows the exploits of a group of residents whose paths cross as committee members of an inner city allotment. Blow-ins, locals, control freaks, idealists – all human life is here.

When a slick local politician tries to have the allotment relocated, some see it as a cynical ploy, others are swayed by the compensation on offer. And threaded through the unfolding story are flashbacks of a funeral. But which of the characters will turn out to be the deceased? And how will the death affect the opposing sides?

Political sharp practice and typical committee conflicts generate plenty of twists and turns, until eventually all the participants have to confront their values, in a humorous but sharply observed drama of modern living.
