The manufacturing industry a sinking ship and nothing can be done to save it. This is the prevailing view of many. But is it true?

A Report released by Forfás in May of this year claims that 20,000 jobs can be created in the industry by 2016, but is this realistic? or should we concentrate on creating jobs in the service sector?
