This week on Down to Business: Winning Back the High Street in Sligo

Down to Business hits Sligo this Saturday, where its Winning Back the High Street with thanks to Vodafone.

Broadcasting from Fiddlers Creek Bar and Restaurant on Rockwood Parade, Bobby Kerry will be talking to some of the town's leading business men and women about life in the Northwest and has plenty more in store.

Catch the action on air and online from 10:00am.

Here's what we have ready to go:

  • First up, we take a look at the stories making an impact in the business section and the front pages of Saturday's papers with Daniel Browne. The Sligo native is the Commercial Director of Ocean FM and also the man behind Sea Sessions.
  • Bobby will be talking to Claire Ronan, presenter of Sligo County Matters on Irish TV, about her feelings on life in Sligo in 2016

  • To get a proper view of Sligo's High Street, Bobby will be joined by a host of local business leaders, big and small. Taking the stage will be well-known restaurateur Pat Grimes, Sligo Chamber President and Cafe Fleur owner Des Faul, and John Dorman of Dorman Architects, which has offices in Dublin and Sligo. Business owners in the audience will also get to have her say. 

  • Trying to find his inner surf dude, Bobby grabs a board and hits the Strandhill waves with Paul Buchanan of the Strandhill Surf School.
  • Talking all things tourism in the prime Wild Atlantic Way spot, Bobby welcomes Joe Corcoran, Chairman of Sligo Tourism; Seamus Preston, who is the manager of the Radisson Blu Hotel and Spa in Rosses Point; and David McCoy of the Strandhill Lodge and Suites.
  • Owners of Lissadell House, Eddie Walsh and Constance Cassidy, will talk about the historic home that is now such an important tourist attraction in Sligo, with everything from WB Yeats poetry to visits from Leonard Cohen on the agenda.
  • Sitting in the Executive Chair this week will be Fergal Broder, CEO of LotusWorks. The company has been ever-present in Sligo since 1989 and supplies daily technical solutions to clients in a range of industries at home and internationally.

  • To play us out, local six-piece Rackhouse Pilfer will be delivering some of their patented Irish-Americana...
