Bobby has once again put himself in harm’s way for Down to Business...

When people are asked about the things they fear most in life, ‘sitting a driving test’ is nearly always on the list.

One of the longest-established driving schools in Ireland is the Irish School of Motoring, and Bobby visited their centre in Finglas for this week's show.

Bobby had his own driving scrutinised, and got to have a go at driving an articulated truck. He was joined by Karl Walsh, the MD of the school, to have a chat about their business.

Established in 1961, the ISM has a network of over 160 Qualified Driving Instructors across the country, as well as their state-of-the-art, purpose-built training facility in Dublin. They offer everything from training for cars and coaches, to forklift and warehouse training courses.

Karl explained, "ISM was established by my father. He was from a big, big family and headed over to London in search of work. One of the first jobs he came across was working for the British School of Motoring.

"With the success of that he headed to Ireland, and three years before the driving tests were ever introduced into the country he set up Irish School of Motoring."

Karl says in recent years "we have embraced the whole technology issue. We have introduced online booking... And with recent legislation from the RSA, where people have to do a mandatory 12 lessons, this has obviously increased our business rapidly."

You can check out some video highlights of Bobby's visit below, and tune in to Down to Business from 10am for more.
