Ancient philosophers claimed that the world was founded on four essential elements; ‘Fire, Earth, Air and Water’. Although modern science has taught us that there is much more to the world these four primordial elements still have a lot to do with our daily lives.
This Saturday, we continue our short series of sound stories dedicated to some aspect of each element. It’s in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency.
This Saturday we look at ‘Earth’ and in particular alien invasions…but not of the extraterrestrial variety…Here in Ireland we have, living among us, creatures that don’t belong…they are very real, pose a serious threat, and are living in the wild right here in Ireland…
We are joined on air by Collette O'Flynn from the National Biodiversity Data Centre. She manages the invasive species database, keeping track of all the plants and animals that have been found in the wild...and she's encountered some surprising species in her work.
Tune in to Futureproof to hear more from 10am this Saturday.
The four elements is funded by The Environmental Protection Agency’s Research programme, “using knowledge to protect and improve our natural environment and human health”
