A lot of people may be familiar with smart drugs through the film Limitless when actor Bradley Cooper’s character takes a pill that vastly improves a person’s mental function.

Last week Futureproof researcher John O'Dowd did a double-blind placebo-controlled trial of a substance commonly known as a ‘smart drug’ under medical supervision. John has now stayed up for two separate 24 hour periods and has been subjected to a series of cognitive tests administered by clinical psychologist Mark Harold.

This week we reveal to John which pill he actually took and how he did in the test. We also debate the whole are of smart drugs and if this might be the future.

With this in mind we’d love to know what you think.

Should 'smart drugs' be permitted to use if they have no negative side effects?

And to hear the results be sure to tune in to Futureproof this Saturday from 10am.
