It has emerged that homeware stores will not be permitted to open as planned on Monday.
The Cabinet has been meeting today to decide whether the first stage of the Government’s roadmap for easing Coronavirus restrictions can begin on Monday.
The National Public Health Emergency Team submitted its advice to Government yesterday.
The first phase will allow up to four people to meet outdoors, provided they follow social distancing guidelines.
Hardware and DIY stores are also due to open their doors along with construction sites.
Some public sports areas like tennis courts and golf courses are also expected to get the green light.
The Government can still tweak the plan as they see fit and there is speculation in Leinster House that homeware stores like IKEA will not be permitted to open as planned, due to fears of large crowds of people attempting to get in.
The Government is due to make an announcement later this evening.
It is expected to include guidance on the wearing of face coverings in public.
