Olympic champion Kellie Harrington has said her wedding day on Friday was “just perfect”.
The gold medallist wed her long-term girlfriend, Mandy Loughlin, in Dublin after 13 years of seeing each other.
“It was absolutely amazing, really a beautiful day,” Kellie told Lunchtime Live.
“Everyone had a great time and it was just perfect.
“But we’re keeping it kind of private.”
After she wed Kellie posted a picture of herself, Mandy and their dogs on Twitter captioned:
“In a world where ye can be anything, just be yourself 😘”

When asked whether she had been surprised by the positive reaction to her happy news, Kellie replied:
“I’m not surprised.
“We’re a great nation and we’ve come a long way over these last few years so I’m not really surprised to be honest with you, no.
“We still have a long way to go but no it doesn’t surprise me.”
Community Road Trip
Kellie is still hard at work preparing for Paris 2024 - and she recently became a brand ambassador for SPAR’s Community Road Trip as well.
SPAR is offering €10,000 worth of funding to five community groups making a difference in their local area and Kellie told Lunchtime Live that the project is “very, very close to my heart”:
“The community road trip is gonna be fantastic,” she explained.
“There’ll be funding of €10,000 available for projects, clubs and community initiatives as part of the SPAR summer road trip.
“And five clubs, all groups, they can win €2,000 - which is fantastic, that will go a really long way to any club or group.
“It’s something that is very, very close to my heart… I’m going to have great craic going around - I can’t wait!”
Applications open on Wednesday 20th April and all community groups are encouraged to apply.
