A roundabout which contains a 12ft statue of a knight on horseback has been named the best roundabout in the United Kingdom.
Judges of the Roundabout of the Year contest compared the Stonehills roundabout on the A38 in Gloucestershire to a scene from cult film The Wicker Man.
The roundabout was designed to reflect the Battle of Tewkesbury in 1471. The £70,000 artwork depicts a triumphant Yorkist knight on horseback which is made from oak, carrying a 26ft stainless steel lance.
Judges from the Roundabout Appreciation Society said the "dramatic and imposing" scene "sums up what is so enchanting about roundabouts".
Its prize for winning the annual award will be a place on the front cover of the society's 2015 calendar.
Kevin Beresford, president of the Roundabout Appreciation Society, described this year's winner as "one of the most dramatic and imposing roundabouts I have ever come across".
