Homesick prisoner Richard Milburn broke out of jail - because he had no fellow Yorkshiremen to mix with.
When convicted burglar Milburn, 29, was moved to an open prison in Lancashire he was dismayed to find it was “full of Lancashire and Liverpool people”.
So he walked out through the entrance gates at Category D Kirkham Jail, near Preston, and fled back home to Bradford, West Yorks, in November last year.
Milburn - who was serving three and a half years for burglary and driving offences - enjoyed Yorkshire ways for two months before giving himself up when he walked into a police station near his home.
He is now back on home turf at Category B HMP Leeds jail.
At Bradford Crown Court Milburn, from the East Bowling area of the town, admitted escape and was given a further three months.
Prosecutor Paul Nicholson said: “It must have been something of a loose regime.
"He said he was unhappy because it was not Yorkshire people there, it was Lancashire and Liverpool people.”
