The woman announced the news in the most public way possible via a sign above the entrance of a popular bar.
"Paul... I am divorcing you," declared the marquee of Swansea pub Noah's Yard on Saturday.
It doesn’t stop there. The woman followed up with the message "BTW I am keeping the dog," according to the bar's Facebook page.
The South Wales Evening Post reports that the woman, who wished to remain anonymous, asked Noah's Yard staff to put the sign up after she discovered her husband of many years was having an affair.
"I was angry and upset so wanted a sign to go up for everyone to see," she said.
"I did feel a bit better once the sign went up. I wanted to name and shame him."
The woman who is said to be devastated said her family and friends "have seen the sign and have been supporting" her.
Unsurprisingly, Paul isn’t happy about it, the woman said he was "furious" when he saw the sign.
Noah's Yard owner Noah Redfern said the bar's frequently changing sign has previously displayed marriage proposals and cultural messages, but the woman's declaration is a first.
"Maybe this will become a new way of asking for a divorce," Redfern stated.
