A 5-year-old German shepherd received a summons to serve on a Cumberland County judicial panel.

Cumberland County resident Barrett Griner thought it downright silly that an envelope addressed to his pet arrived in the mail.

The official courthouse summons was addressed to IV Griner, and the only being in his house called IV was his dog.

Her owner, told CBS Philly that he figured out the mishap quickly, but it was still pretty funny. His full name is Barrett Griner IV, so a computer likely mistook the roman numerals for his first name before the summons was mailed out.

The dog did not fulfill it's civic duty!
