The Invisible Girlfriend app provides a wealth of "proof" that you have in fact managed to land a girlfriend, including interactive text messages, phone calls, voicemails and most vital of all, a Facebook "in a relationship" status.

Once you’ve downloaded the app, you can browse the library for the style of service that would best suit your lifestyle.

There are three packages available, ranging from "Just Talking," featuring an Emergency Interaction Button for €7.35 per month, "Getting Serious," which costs €22 and boasts random gifts and notes, through to "Almost Engaged," which costs €37 every month and includes live phone calls. With who, we're not exactly sure.

As for the ladies, the developers are also planning to launch an Invisible Boyfriend version. And the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender amongst you will be glad to discover both apps are said to allow same-sex relationships.

Invisible Girlfriend is expected to become available before Christmas, just in time for the inevitable over-dinner grilling about why you're still a lonely loser.
