Police in the US have arrested a woman they say was trying to buy meth as a birthday present for her sister.

Officers said 46-year-old Heather Rodriguez approached an off-duty officer and asked to buy meth from him Tuesday. She then allegedly pulled a glass pipe that was coated with meth residue from her brassiere.

Police said she admitted she was trying to buy the drug but she claimed it wasn't for her own use.

Rodriguez was booked on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia in a drug-free zone and attempted possession of meth for distribution.
