A millionaire’s daughter has been forced to apologise for a noisy party at her family’s stately home.
Jessica Kennaway, 18, was told by a council to say sorry to her neighbours after music from the all-night gathering was heard 5km (three miles) away.
Police attended the do at Escot House near Ottery St Mary in Devon at 4am on Sunday but it continued until about 7am.
The party, a joint celebration marking her friend’s 18th birthday and her going away travelling to South America for nine months, was attended by around 60 guests, entertained by a disc jockey.
It got under way on Saturday night, but was still going strong in the early hours of Sunday, leading many nearby residents to log on to the internet, to post messages on the Facebook and Twitter websites, venting their frustration.
‘We had put the speakers in the direction of the valley to minimise the volume,’ said Ms Kennaway.
