It is being reported in the Telegraph today that a former EastEnders star turned voice actor has been revealed as the "Unexpected item in bagging area" lady, who's voice installed on over 10,000 supermarket tills.
Actress Helena Breck’s telly career peaked when she played a character called Elizabeth Wilmott-Brown back in 1994, before she moved into voice acting for the likes of L'Oreal, Mazda and shopping till manufacturer NCR.
She was chosen as the voice of the till for her "calming voice and an approachable manner," but now claims that being known as the voice of the self-checkout machine has "impinged" her career.
