Scot Haney saw something that looked like breakfast cereal on the studio floor, scooped it up and swallowed it — only to realize his mistake.

Haney soon realised he had accidentally ate cat vomit on live TV.

Live on WFSB in Hartford, Connecticut, he was sharing a news desk with colleagues when he picked up something he thought was a piece of a breakfast cereal called Grape Nuts.

Without thinking twice the weatherman put the morsel into his mouth before realising in was in fact puke from his cat.

"Ladies and gentlemen, those were not Grape Nuts that I ate. I kept finding more and more of it on the floor, and I thought it was Grape Nuts because it looked just like it," he said.

While holding up his stained shoe he added, "My cat threw up, and I must have stepped in it, and that's what I ate. I thought it was Grape Nuts! I ate cat vomit, right here on television. It's disgusting...I'm going to throw up!"
