Anna Holmes is the founder of website Jezebel.com, it was originally supposed to be modelled as a 'girly Gawker' featuring items which appealed to female readers.
After over fifteen years of working for women’s magazines, Holmes was frustrated with the formulaic format of women’s publications for example endless tid-bids on how to dress etc.
“There were a lot of stories about finding a man, how to have sex and ridiculous sex tips that I had to write. It was a formula and I hated it.”
After its launch Jezebel soon became one of the most popular websites for women.
Now Holmes has edited a book to capture the essence of the website including some of her favourite entries - from the series the website ran on untouched photographs (see below) to so called crazy cat ladies.
Holmes left the site in 2010 and set the scene for other so called 'lady-blogs', she is now a freelance writer and contributor to the New York Times Sunday Book Review.
