At least ten civilians have been killed in a NATO airstrike on a pickup truck carrying women and children in Afghanistan.

Local officials said four women, and four children were killed in the strike in Kunar province.

They confirmed the vehicle was also carrying four armed insurgents who died in the attack.

NATO said it had no knowledge of civilian casualties.
