A community in Norway will finally find out today what is in a mysterious hundred year old package.

The first mayor of the central Sel region gave instructions in August 1912 that it can be opened in a century.

Speculation is rife as to what could be in the mysterious 3 kilo container.

It is is 40cms wide, 28cms deep and 9cms thick.

The package has survived both World Wars and has been moved around the region several times.

Festivities are underway there to celebrate the event.
