Up to a thousand new jobs are being created in County Galway, Dexcom has announced.
The company builds continuous glucose monitoring systems for those with diabetes and its new global manufacturing facility will be based in Athenry.
Executive Vice President of Global Operations at Dexcom Barry Regan described the town as the ‘perfect’ location for the company.
“With the continued success of our Dexcom G7 in Europe, we’re pursuing an ambitious growth strategy that requires increased manufacturing capacity to support our rapidly expanding European user base,” he told Newstalk.
“Ireland has an exceptional talent pool and an established medtech sector - making Athenry the perfect location for us to establish a new, state of the art manufacturing facility.”
The new factory will provide about 500 construction jobs during the building phase and up to 1,000 graduate and technician positions will come on stream over a five-year-period.
