A liquidator was appointed to the Irish division of JJB Sports on October 1st after the parent company in the UK went into administration.
However efforts to find a buyer for its 4 stores and 2 leisure centres in Dundalk, Blanchardstown, Limerick and Liffey Valley have failed.
The High Court-appointed liquidator Kieran Wallace of KPMG made the announcement.
No buyer has emerged
In a statement he says he has been actively looking for a purchaser of the business but “regretfully none has emerged from this process, which has resulted in its closure this evening”.
Employees and members of the 2 leisure centres informing have been informed.
The liquidator says any monies due to members will become a creditor claim.
The business employs 101 people most of whom are part-time.
