Eleven restaurants and take-aways were closed because of food safety breaches in November, it was revealed today.
Three of the closures were based in Dublin while the others were across Louth, Meath, Laois, Waterford, Limerick, and Tipperary.
After revealing the enforcement orders, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland warned the food trade to be vigilant over food safety, especially in the busy run up to Christmas.
Pure Green Juices, a small Irish juice company who were formed by two couples last August, and supply drinks to a number of retailers across Dublin including Spar, Centra, Londis and Supervalue outlets, received a closure order under the European Commission regulations. The authorities reported problems in the company's fruit and vegetable processing facility in Dublin 15.
Temple Bar's Arlington Hotel was also given a closure order over an issue in the hotel's basement kitchen.
Moneymore, a daycare in Co Louth was also listed.
