The total compensation awarded to personal injury claimants in the first six months of the year increased by 8.3% to €118 million. 5,286 people were awarded compensation, which is up 2% on the same period last year.
Road traffic accidents continue to account for the majority of claims with the average award being almost €22,000.
The five counties with the largest number of awards were Limerick, Longford, Dublin, Louth and Carlow.
While Kilkenny, Roscommon, Laois, Wexford and Wicklow had the lowest.
The Injuries Board has also unveiled its new app today which features an interactive claim estimator and information on how to access and navigate its public services.
Patricia Byron is CEO of the Injuries Board. "Despite double digit increases in the first half of 2013, claims volumes slowed in the third quarter and a continuation of that trend could see full year volume increases being pared back to about 5% - on par with prior years".
She also says that this combined with a reduction in the processing fee of the Board, means theytsee no basis for insurance premium hikes.
The Board says it has delivered cost savings of €26.8 million to mid-year and expects this to increase to €52 million by the end of the year.
