The new classes will cater for over 700 children in 113 mainstream primary and post primary schools and will bring the total number special accommodation rooms in mainstream facilities to over 740 across the country.
The classes which have lower pupil-teacher ratios are one of the options available to parents of children with significant needs who cannot be educated in a mainstream room.
The group is also launching a new booklet to help parents choose a school for their child.
