Winter is fast approaching with the clocks going back this Saturday night.

Are you put off cycling to work because of the danger that comes with it in the freezing conditions?

It has emerged that Dutch towns and cities are considering implementing geo-thermal energy to prevent ice, frost and snow forming on bicycle lanes.

The concept is said to cost €32,000 to €64,000 per mile.

Marcel Boerefjin, the instigator of this all has said significant savings will be made from salt grit in the long run.

Other advantages would be fewer accidents, a reduced travel expense and the notion saves more money than putting down straw long term.
