It has emerged that Dutch towns and cities are considering implementing geo-thermal energy to prevent ice, frost and snow forming on bicycle lanes.
The concept is said to cost €32,000 to €64,000 per mile.
Marcel Boerefjin, the instigator of this all has said significant savings will be made from salt grit in the long run.
Other advantages would be fewer accidents, a reduced travel expense and the notion saves more money than putting down straw long term.
