12 people have been arrested during protests against the installation of water meters in north Dublin.
They were taken to Coolock garda station, where they verified their names and addresses before being released.
Gardaí say they were taken in under the Water Services Act when scuffles broke out in the Limewood Estate in Raheny just after 1pm this afternoon.
It comes after the Commission for Energy Regulation earlier published the charges to be paid for water.
Householders will pay €2.44 per thousand litres of water, doubling to €4.88 to cover waste water as well.
Charging for all homes will be capped for nine months - which is longer than expected - while those on boil water notices for 24 hours will not be charged for water supply.
Under the CER plan all customers will have their total water charges capped at the unmetered or assessed charge for nine months - three months longer than initially planned.
Meanwhile, a Cork woman has brought a High Court challenge against the charges, claiming a state asset has been handed over against the public interest.
