13 files have been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) by Gardaí investigating allegations of historic sex abuse at Blackrock College and a number of other schools run by the Spiritan Order.
The DPP will now decide on whether to bring charges forward charges in relation to historic abuse. It is not clear how many alleged suspects are involved.
More than 130 survivors and witnesses reported incidents of child sexual abuse to Gardaí investigating schools such as Blackrock College and its feeder school Willow Park in South Dublin.
Gardaí said investigations in relation to a “significant number” of these reports were completed as it had been established that the alleged suspects are deceased.
The allegations of historic abuse first emerged last November when brothers David and Mark Ryan shared their stories of the repeated sexual abuse they received while pupils at the prestigious Blackrock College.
Mr Ryan died last month at the age of 62.
