224 jobs have been announced by a number of companies across the country today.

Microsoft Ireland are to create 95 jobs, filling 60 new roles at their offices in Dublin and the Middle East, and 35 new graduate roles across all parts of the business.

The jobs will be created across its development, applications media and publishing and other parts of the business.

It is also currently recruiting for a range of professional services roles in its Europe Middle East & Africa Operations Centre as well as its Sales and Marketing Organisations.

This expansion has been supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.

Commenting on the new investment, Managing-Director of Microsoft Ireland Cathriona Hallahan said "This investment builds on the strong development work that has been done by our team here at the European Development Centre over the past few years and deepens our development footprint in Ireland".

"These are important roles in two key areas of the business and we are delighted to continue to strengthen the range and diversity of people within the Microsoft Ireland through incremental growth and continued transformation" she added.

Microsoft is also hiring in the areas of Online Services Program Management, Devices Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) as well as Advertising Operations and Channel Management at its Europe Middle East and Africa Operations Centre.

Barry O'Leary, CEO at IDA Ireland commented "These new jobs will involve a mixture of technology and business expertise - both of which are areas in which we have numerous third-level courses. A company of Microsoft's calibre, reinforces Ireland's reputation as a leading world location for foreign investment".

Microsoft has been based in Ireland since 1985.

Wright Bar Group

Elsewhere the Wright Bar Group, which is the holding company for a multi-million euro portfolio of pubs is to invest €800,000 ahead of the opening of two new venues this week.

Owner Michael Wright already runs the well-known Wright Venue, nightclub, in Swords, Co. Dublin and is now adding a 7,000 ft Hogs and Heffers Club in the same area.

The second of the new ventures will see the Baroque Club open its doors in a secret gallery inside the Wright venue.

It's claimed that branching out will mean a further 100 staff will be needed by the group.

Brandtone

Staying in the capital and Brandtone, a Dublin-based mobile marketing company, has announced it's to plough two million euro into a major research and development programme, expanding its workforce by 29 bringing its total headcount to 79 by the end of 2014.

FCS Global

The last 10 jobs to be announced today go to Roscommon where communications firm FCS Global is entering the US market and will need 10 more workers to do so.

The Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton says he welcomes the 'exporting of Irish business' and has wished them every success.
