Thousands of Irish homes who have paid the €100 household charge are receiving reminder letters.

Complaints are flooding in their masses to the Local Government Management Agency.

The letter being sent out to households is requesting €127 including penalties and fees for not paying the €100 before the original deadline of March 31st.

Paul McSweeney is the CEO of the LGMA and said those who have received letters should contact them.

The way in which names and addresses were entered into the database has created the problem and therefore householders got the letter through their postbox in error.

In some cases, the property owner excluded house numbers, post codes or a completely different address than that registered in the property registration authority.

The Local Government Management Agency said they can be contacted on 01 633 2200 or by emailing info@lgma.ie.

Quote your PPS number or household charge account reference number to verify you have paid and prevent your property receiving further and subsequent letters.
