The European Commission is making €1.4m available to encourage Irish people to eat more mushrooms.
A three-year campaign titled "Just add Mushrooms" will see Bord Bia promote the nutritional benefits of eating the popular food accessory.
Roger Waite is spokesperson for the EU Agriculture Commissioner, he says the campaign will aim to persuade a certain generation of people to encourage their children to consume more mushrooms:
But did you know that Ireland has it's very own native poisonous mushrooms. There are about 10 cases every year of people falling ill from eating the wrong kind of mushroom.
