Over 220 new jobs have been announced this morning by two separate companies in Mayo and Cork.
Northgate Public Services is to create 150 new positions in Castlebar over the next three years, while Cork's Food for Health Ireland says it plans to create 73 new jobs.
Northgate doubles Castlebar presence
Northgate Public Services already employs 100 people in Castlebar through its Newborn Hearing Screening Service, which was rolled out to 20 Maternity Units in Ireland, where over 75,000 babies get a hearing test annually.
The new positions will be in health services, IT, transactional services, and document management, they will come on stream over the next three years.
Executive Director Joe Bradley said, “The creation of an additional 150 jobs is good news for the country and will provide a boost for the Irish economy over time, as well as enhancing Northgate’s contribution to providing key public sector services in Ireland.”
Northgate currently provides services to over 50% of hospitals in Ireland, as well as a number of local authorities and government departments.

Food for Health Ireland's 73 new jobs have come about thanks to a €21 million investment in ‘milk mining’ by IDA Ireland and Enterprise Ireland.
FHI is one of 15 Technology Centres in the €100M Technology Centre Programme which is supported by the Department of Jobs through Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland.
