The Minister for Public Expenditure says the addition of 150 million euro to the Capital Investment Plan will boost the construction sector.

The funds will be spent over the next year refurbishing schools, repairing local roads and improving the energy efficiency of local authority homes.

It comes on top of the 3.4 billion already allocated by the Government between now and 2016.

Minister Brendan Howlin says the projects will provide a much-needed lift to employment in the construction sector.
