A 16-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a car in Co Limerick overnight.
The incident occurred in Garraunboy near Adare at around 3.45am this morning.
The teenager was walking on the road when he was struck by a car.
His body remains at scene and will be removed shortly to Limerick University Hospital where a post-mortem will take place.
The driver of the car, who is in his late 40, was not injured.
The scene is currently preserved and garda forensic collision investigators are due to conduct an examination this morning.
The N21 at the Newcastle West side of Adare village remains closed and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí at Newcastle West are appealing for any witnesses to come forward, particularly any motorists who were travelling in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage.
