The Jobs Minister says the 1800 new jobs announced today for new high-tech firms will be located right across the country.

The positions will be created over the next three years at 122 different companies in 21 of the 26 counties in the South.

Enterprise Ireland says it hopes the new firms will grow quickly and lead to hundreds of spin-off jobs in the coming years.

Richard Bruton says Dublin is the "hotbed" of tech jobs in Ireland - but other counties are seeing benefits too:

Each of the start-up firms are described as export-driven and are based on technological innovations.

John O'Dea manages start-ups for Enterprise Ireland - he believes hundreds of spin-off jobs could soon follow.

The Jobs Minister says it is a part of a determination to boost the employment market with Irish enterprise and not just multinational companies.
