Gardai say the black BMW car involved in the crash had been stolen shortly before the accident.

The teenager died when the car crashed into a wall near Roscrea shortly before 2am.

His 16-year-old passenger was seriously injured in the accident, and was also taken to Limerick Regional hospital.

Inspector Brian Conway of Roscrea Gardai says the public can help with the investigation:The road is currently closed for a forensic examination and diversions are in place.
